AIM OF LIBRARY

     

    To develop collection of reading material useful for various courses.

    To provide full information support to the teaching-learning process in the college.

    To provide various library services and facilities to the readers.

    To support research activity for its progress and qualitative development.

    To support parent institution for developing quality of learning and teaching.

LIBRARY SERVICES AND FACILITIES

 

Borrowing facility

Each Student : 2 Books (for 7 Days)

Faculty Members : 15 (one academic year)

Non-Teaching Staff : 03 Books

Books are issued on the basis of identity cards. Current Journals are displayed on racks and the back issues are not issued for Students.

Book Bank Facility

Book Bank Facility is available for SC/ST students. Set of text books are issued to the SC/ST students of different class students.

Journals:

Current issues of periodicals are made available to the students and faculty members in the Reading Room cum Library

Back issues of journals and periodicals are issued for faculty only for a week.

Open Access

Open Access is given to all the users.

Reading Room :

Reading Room Facility is available to students and faculty members, during the College hours i.e. 08.30 am to 5.00 pm.

Internet Facility

Internet facility is given to the all users. It is free of charge for faculty, while at nominal charges of Rs. 5/- per hour for students

Reference Service

The reference books are made available to the readers during library hours. The personal assistance as guidance and help is provided, if required to the new readers to make use of the reference book.

Question Papers

The sets of previous university examination question papers are made available to faculty and students from the library.

Library Computerization : The computerization of Library is in process. The database of library collection is in Excel format. Our college authorities are trying to purchase the Library software SOUL which was prepared by INFLIBNET, Ahmadabad. After completion of computerization it will facilitates as:

    Information about any book and periodical within fraction of second to the user.

    Online Public Access Catalogue allows students and teachers to find any book of his/her interest.

    New arrival book list provides updates of Library collection.

    Budget allocation and expenditure.

    Online staff issue provides details and statistics of reading.

    Yearly reading profile of any staff and departmental library. Etc.

Reading Room

    ü "Reading Room" is kept open from 8.30 am to 5.00 pm. on all working days.

    ü No admission is permitted in study room without Identity Card.

    ü Students can borrow text books, journals; question paper sets on their Identity Card in the study room.

    ü Books / Study materials issued in the study room will have to be returned before leaving the study room, otherwise a fine of Rs. 20/- will be charged per day.

    ü Indiscipline/ misbehaviour of the student will be liable for the disciplinary action.

    Library orientation for students in using Library

    Conducted a Guest lecture on “Usage of Library effectively in Degree Colleges” by K.Basava Raju , Librarian SVGM Government Degree College , Kalyanadurgam on the occasion of Library week celebrations

    Conducted Book exhibition in the college Library on the occasion of Library week celebrations

    Conducted Women’s Day on the eve of Indira Gandhi Birth Day on the occasion of Library week celebrations

Individual Activies :

    Member in Stage committee of inter collegiate Group –A Games conducted in college

    Participated in DRC history Quiz competitions conducted in college

    Participated as Judge for competitions conducted in Yuvatarangam 2014
